The Terminator - Saturday 31st August 2024

I first saw this film on VHS when I was four or five, and I fcuking LOVE it! Honestly, it’s one of my favourite movies of all time! It has everything! It’s thrilling, high concept, science fiction, has great fx, and even a great romance! It’s gritty and believable, none of the characters act in an illogical way (to facilitate the plot) and there’s not a superfluous moment of screen time! Literally every shot moves the story forward.

It’s a masterpiece, and easily James Cameron’s best film.
So when it was given a 4k remaster and a theatrical release to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, you better believe I went to the cinema to see it!
It was glorious; the cinema was two thirds full (it was also National Cinema Day in the UK, which meant cheaper ticket prices), and seeing it on the big screen, with a room full of strangers, was a very welcome experience. The film totally holds up, and is more relevant than ever!
