I’d been watching, and absolutely LOVING the Italian TV show, Gomorrah. Got to the end of Season 4 (the penultimate season), and knew there was a movie to watch before the final season…
I have to say, it was a bit disappointing. Very much a side-quest story, that wasn’t as good as any of the stories that take place during the regular TV series. My whole concept of a movie is that it should be an elevated story, with greater production values than you’d find in TV; something for the big screen that can’t be produced for TV, whereas this film was like a TV movie. I t’s always great to see what happens to a beloved character, but really, this could have just been condensed into an episode of the regular TV show. Ciro’s backstory is mentioned so often in the show, it really wasn’t necessary to see it dramatized in this movie. I love the TV show, so I was always going to watch this, but I have to say, you can definitely skip past it and go straight to Season 5.
