Captain America: The First Avenger – Friday 21st February 2025

I hadn’t seen this film since I first saw it in the cinema (in 3-D!!), and I remember finding it pretty average.

Well, an average film from 2011 is actually pretty damn good in 2025!

Now that Steve Rogers’ journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ended, returning to his origin story is actually more effective, and poignant. The film does an excellent job of portraying his values and heroism, and shows us why he really is the leader that all the other heroes are willing to follow.

Even the villain has more depth than the kind of goons Marvel has us watching these days. If the most recent Captain America followed the blueprint of this film, it would be far more satisfying.

The whole cast is good, but Chris Evans absolutely nails it.
Now I feel like watching the whole series again!
