Based on the work of Thomas Piketty, this graphic novel distils some of the main points of his book; I have no idea how effective it is, as I haven’t read the book it’s based on.
One of the best books I’ve read on economics and how money (and those that have inordinate amounts of it) control every aspect of our lives, was the graphic novel, ‘Economix’. Consequently, I decided to read this graphic novel, hoping for more of the same. In all honesty, it doesn’t actually provide much in the way of information about the history of Capital, or even the movement of it. Instead, it presents the reader with the story of how wealth has flowed down the generations of a particular French family. The story aspect of it is good, but I didn’t really learn as much as I had hoped to, mainly about how Capitalism, with all its flaws, came to be the ideology that has enslaved mankind far more than even religion! The fact that we’re going to extinct the entire ecology of the planet, just so rich people (and the politicians they bankroll), can be even richer, is insane! But here we are. Anyway, a decent book, but ‘Economix’ is better.
