I feel like this film has gone under the radar, as no one seems to be talking about it, which is a shame as it’s probably the best film of the year so far!
It’s taut, compelling, well acted, and really enjoyable to watch! Seeing how the mystery unravels is what a good spy thriller is all about, and this one keeps you engaged all the way to the climax, which doesn’t disappoint, mostly thanks to the great acting. Cate Blanchett is always top draw, and she delivers once again in this movie. I did have an issue with was the cinematography. A lot of the interiors were dimly lit, to accommodate for a kind of bloom lighting effect, which was just a bit pretentious really. Also, there’s not much in terms of ‘seeing the money on screen’. The locations are limited and basic, which is great for the story, but it definitely could have been more visually exciting. Those are minor gripes really, because the film is definitely worth watching!
