I’m not a huge fan of Imax or 3D, but I saw this in Imax in 3D, and it was totally worth it. It’s opening weekend, it’s a big cinema with a huge screen, and it’s totally sold out. This is what going to the movies is all about!
These are the types of films that you have to watch in a room full of people; there’s something pleasing about that shared experience. So the ‘experience’ of going to the see the film was brilliant. Really took me back to the pre-pandemic days, when a packed out cinema on opening weekend was something normal, whereas now, it’s a rare and cherished experience. The film itself was good; better than the last one, but not as good as the first. It was just too damn long! I think at least 30 minutes could have been cut, and it would have made for a much tighter film. Still, a James Cameron film is always something worth seeing in the cinema, and these Avatar movies are made for 3D, so if you’re going to watch it, seeing it on the largest screen possible, in 3D, is definitely the way to go. Good, but doubt I’ll ever watch it again!
