I went into this film knowing absolutely nothing about Bob Dylan, except for the fact that he’s regarded as a musical genius by some; he’s also the only songwriter to win a Nobel prize.
So I was eager to learn about the man, his music, and what makes his so special! Also, James Mangold is a very capable filmmaker (except when it comes to Indiana Jones); I had high hopes. As a film, it’s not bad, although clearly made for fans of Bob Dylan. Personally, I left the cinema asking myself why I just sat through a film about a very unlikeable man, whose music I did not enjoy at all! All the actors were great, and the film does a great job of recreating a bygone era.
