For me, that alone is worth celebrating, although the consistency definitely came at the cost of quality!

I'm not really impressed with any of the 'art' I produced over the course of the month, but I proved to myself that once I commit to something, I can stay the course until the end!

I love drawing Spider-Man, and in a previous life, I wanted to write and draw Spider-Man comics for a living. Like many things, it never came to pass, but I still enjoy drawing ol' web-head, so was pleased to end the challenge with a rough sketch of him.

In terms of drawing, I think less output, but of a higher standard, is definitely the goal; however, this year was absolutely abysmal in terms of getting anything done, let alone anything good!

So I'm happy I drew more; now I just have to draw more, but make sure it has more quality to it than a five-minute sketch before hitting the sack!

]]><![CDATA[Inktober - Day 30 - Pen and Paper]]>Sat, 01 Nov 2025 15:33:52 GMThttps://www.planetnish.com/2025-sketch-book/inktober-day-30-pen-and-paperI've always found that doodling and sketching on the back of envelopes or on scraps of paper, often produces the best art, or the most 'free' ideas, as they're literally unencumbered by the weight of expectation, and the need to make something 'good'.

The medium is completely disposable, so you just let your mind, and your hand, go wild.
My filmmaking suffers from a similar paralysis, whereby it's so costly to make something (if not financially, than in terms of the effort and reliance on others), that it has to be good, and because it has to be good, nothing ever gets done!
Perhaps the 'disposable' route is the way forward with that too...
